107-the end
1. In the end of the book Lennie has killed the Master's son's wife; when the men return and find her dead in the barn, they decide Lennie is unsafe and must go. When George hears that the men want to find and kill Lennie, George knows that Lennie is among the brush, near the lake, where George instructed him to go if anything bad were to ever happen. When George finds Lennie in the brush, he tells him to close his eyes and imagine happy thoughts of the future the two have planned. While Lennie is distracted, George shoots him.
2. This book was not one of my favorites. I say this because I think that this book did not have a good plot. The purpose of this story did not speak to me. I think that with a lot of the books I read, they impact my view on different things, but this book really did not teach me that much; however, I think the author is a talented writer. I think that he is really good at describing things and he develops thoughts about his characters really well.
3. I think a theme that was showed a lot throughout this novel is desire to escape. I chose this theme to represent this novel because I think that through the novel when Lennie and George want their own land and want to leave and get their own house, they want to escape. they feel the need to leave on their own and have a place to call home .I think that that Lennie and George as a pair are ready to settle down and not be traveling so often.
4. My favorite character is Lennie. The reason I like Lennie so much is because he sometimes seems like he does not have a care in the world. All he wants is to get that home with George and care for the rabbits that George has promised him. All he is ever trying to do in the novel is please George thats it the only thing he cares about because he wants George to be happy and to be proud of him and I think he worries a lot about making George happy and not letting him down. These traits are what make me like Lennie so much because he is a good friend to George.
5. My least favorite character is Curley. The reason I don’t like this character is because he is really mean to Lennie. He thinks that Lennie is stupid and purposeless. I think that if he gave Lennie a chance then he wouldn’t hate him so much, but because he judges Lennie before he even gets to know him, he does not except him.I think it would be hard to understand Lennie unless you gave him a fair chance and I don’t think that the master’s son gives Lennie this chance.
6. The end of this Novel was a very sad ending.I think that I would have enjoyed it more if Lennie was not killed. I think that when George kills Lennie amongst the brush, the author is trying to show that George has given up on Lennie in a way. Maybe George is simply killing Lennie because the master’s son would if he didn’t. But I think it goes beyond that. I think that maybe he thought that Lennie would not change and he would continue to ruin the opportunities that George is given and that just like he has before get them into trouble or fired from jobs.
My least favorite character was also Curley. I agree that he was very mean to Lennie for what seemed like no reason. He also judges Lennie way too early in the story. I think if Curley got to know Lennie more, they wouldn't have the same relationship.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that the ending was sad, but don't you think Lennie was better off that way? I think that George was trying to protect Lennie. If he had lived, Lennie would have been caught and would have had to struggle for survival.
Good job though Annie!
